The best fantasy stories teach you about their world and they assimilate you into it. So much so that when you turn your ears to something else you are almost shocked at the fact that the real world is different from what you were just listening to.

It is hard to make a definitive list of best audiobooks of all time and I am sure that some people will want to rearrange things, and a portion of you will be outraged that some of the titles that made it in their. None the less, here is my top 10. I hope you like it.

1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

One of the best-selling audiobooks ever is the Harry Potter. The novel has a total of 7 parts and the first part was published in 30th June of 1997. The 7th part was published in June 2011.

The novel is cantered around Harry Potter who was an orphan and at the age of 11 discovered that he was a wizard. His ability was inborn and such children were invited and brought up in a school where they use to teach the necessary skills to succeed in the wizard world. As Harry grows up he learns the skills and prepares himself for the confrontation lying ahead.

The book series have been sold over 450 million copies which made it the all-time best selling fiction book ever. The whole series have been translated in 67 languages. For the extraordinary storyline it grabbed so much audience that since it first came even today it is on the top selling list of Amazon’s best-selling audiobooks.

2. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Twilight is a romance novel based on vampire themed fantasy. The novel has 4 series and the first series was published in 2005. The main character of the series is Bella and Edward (a vampire). Edward had fallen in love with Bella but as Bella is a human being he finds many obstacles from his family and foes and also from the wolfs who are the enemies of vampires.

Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland is another fantasy novel which is still popular today. It was written in 1865 and its been over 140 years and still it is popular today. The book has a total of 12 chapters.

The story is about a girl named Alice who use to lose her way and find herself on a fantasy land where she keeps trying to find her way back home. The book gained very much popularity and even today we see movies are being made based on the chapters of the book.

4. The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis

The Chronicles of Narnia is another series of fantasy novel which has a total of 7 series. It is considered as a classic of children’s literature which was written between 1949 and 1954 and published between 1950 and 1956 by HarperCollins.

The story developed on the realm of Narnia which is a fantasy magic world with mythical beats and talking animals. Various children plays the central role in the series in unfolding the history of the world of Narnia facing many magical wars and battles as the story moves on.

The dark is rising is another fantasy novel which was written and published in 1965-1977. It is a series of five contemporary fantasy novels and The Dark is Rising is the 2nd novel in the series.

Will Stanton a 11 years old boy on his birthday find out that he is an ‘Old one’ who are ancient and immortal and posses the power of light. But the dark power tries to take over the world and make the world full of dark starts appearing before him in task of beating and killing him. Stanton is the major character of the series and finds difficulties in every steps and defends the light against the dark power.

7. Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini

Inheritance Cycle is another fantasy novel you would like to have the audiobook of. The novel has four series and the first one was Eragon.It was first published in 2003.

The story is about the time of the dragon. It was a time when there were dragon and dragon riders. But the evil King Galbatorix who had killed all the rest of the dragon and he alone had the only dragon and started to rule the world. Eragon, a young boy of 15 years of age found an egg of dragon and the evil king had that knowledge and in the quest of destroying the hope of the time of dragon riders sends his troops to kill Eragon and to remain the only dragon rider.

Thus the story is developed and the book been on top of the New York Times best-seller chart for 121 weeks for what it is another audiobook you would have to listen to.

8. Peter Pen by J.M Barrie

Peter Pen was published in 1906 by Hodder and Stounghton. The story is based on Peter who is a 7 day old infant and used to be a part bird. He has a faith in his flying abilities he got himself out of the window and escaped London to reach Kensington Garden where he learns that he is not a bird but human and he starts his quest for learning to fly.

9. Percy Jackson & The Olympians by Rick Riordan

Published in between 2005 and 2009. It is one of the best-selling fantasy novels which been sold over 20 million copies in more than 35 countries.

The story is based on a 12 years old boy Percy who is a demigod that is half God and half human. He being son of Poseidon he had special abilities and for this he was kept hidden which was revealed by evil god and he faced many challenges. Thus for its story it had been on top of New York Times best-selling books for 223 weeks.

10. The Eyes of Dragon by Stephen King

Another fantasy audiobook you should listen to. This is based on the story of Dragon and the story was built within the realm of Delain. It was published in 1987 by Viking.
