Here’s step by step exactly how to create a wordpress website from scratch with no prior experience.
Whether you are doing it for yourself, your business or a client, if you haven’t done it before then setting up a Word Press website can be very difficult. Therefore, in this video I’m going to show you how to create a Word Press website from scratch using a timeless strategy that will work over and over again.
I’m going to presume that you’ve never done this before and we’ll go through everything in step-by-step to give you a good understanding.
The first thing that we need is a domain name so this is your www.yourdomain.com. If we go ahead and open a new tab – let’s go toGoDaddy my websites which is podcastfast.com. When I say domain name it means this: podcastfast.com. That is my domain name. And the place that I recommend you buy it from is from GoDaddy.
You can go through my affiliate link pelt.co/godaddy and I absolutely appreciate that. Alternatively, go ahead and search in Google GoDaddy coupons or something like that and generally you can find 30% off, 99¢ domains at GoDaddy. You can therefore get cheap domains by searching that for your first domain. Searching for domains is easy.
Finding a good one that is available is hard. So let’s think of one – ‘mywebsite’, this is almost certainly going to be taken. We can see that it’s taken but they’re offering us some other options. You can go through and search this.
You can also go ahead and go to their bulk domain search. We can search for a bunch of different things at once or if you go ahead and type in ‘brand name generator’ then this one from Shopify is really good. What you go ahead and do is, you type in a keyword.
So let’s say our keyword is website and it then brings up different domain names which are available and you can go ahead and go through that. So that’s step number one – buy a domain name. I already have a lot of domain names. There’s actually a website – downsmash.com that I want to sell out so I’ll use that for the rest of the tutorial.
The next step is to sign up for hosting. And this is where having a website can get a little bit confusing. So Qmusic, here is the basics of how websites work and why you need hosting. This is you on your new flashy computer and you want to go to google.com in order to search for the meaning of life. But in order to do that you need to type in google.com into your web browser. The domain name google.com is just a domain name, it’s not a website. So what happens is when you type in google.com it then redirect you to a server farm.
This is where Google exists; this is where websites exist; they are in these huge computers that keep all of the information on the internet. So google.com says okay go to this particular server that is where the website is kept and on that server is google.com. So that server then pulls the correct webpage and then sends it back to you in order to show it on your computer.
Therefore, the domain name only exists to direct you to the server. The server only exists to hold the website and to deliver it to your computer and effectively your computer is downloading the website from the server each time you view it. That’s hosting in a nutshell.
And so what we need to do now is to get access to a server that we can go ahead and put our website on. That’s what I mean when I say hosting. It is the servers that we can host our website on who then deliver it out to the world every time someone visits our websites. My recommendations for hosting are always changing so simply go pelt.co/hosting to see who I recommend as you’re watching this.
As I’m recording I recommend Namecheap. At the moment I find them very affordable but also very good. And more specifically we want to look at Shared Hosting which is the cheapest version of hosting which is the best place to start.
You can upgrade at any point, however I do suggest that you start with the cheapest package and you can move up if you find that it’s not enough. Therefore go ahead and sign up for hosting with Namecheap. And you should have already purchased a domain through GoDaddy. You then choose option ‘Use the domain I own from another registrar’ and continue your sign-up.
Once we have purchased our hosting, the next step is to point out domain name to our hosting. Remember how we talked about when someone types in a domain name that that domain name actually points to a server where the website is hosted. Well in order to point the domain name to a server that is done through a thing called name servers. So that is what we’re going to change now.
Therefore in your welcome email after you sign up for hosting you should get details of what your name servers are and there should be 2 name servers. You can see the two here. We now need to enter those in.
So let’s go back into GoDaddy and find our domain name. In this case it is downsmash.com. And we need to click on this little arrow and then click set name servers. We want to have custom name service and then click enter custom name service. Then we just go ahead and copy these name servers and then go ahead and paste them in. Click OK and then click Save.
We’ve now pointed our domain name to our hosting but unfortunately this can take up to 24 to 48 hours to take effect. So if it doesn’t happen automatically don’t worry, sometimes you need to give it some time. But we can move on to our next steps anyway.
Step number four is to download and upload the WordPress software. WordPress is a free open source software that allows you to create and customize any website that has huge amount of functions and it is a really easy to use back end once you understand how to use it. What we need to do now is go to WordPress.org and we need to download the latest version of WordPress.
Go ahead and download the zip file. Once that’s downloaded we need to login to our control panel of our website. Again in your welcome email you should have cPanel access. We can go ahead and click on that and login.
CPanel is kind of like the user interface to your server. You don’t need to use it a lot but we do need to use it in the beginning to set up our WordPress website. To upload the WordPress software we’re going to find this file manager and open that up. It may ask you whether you want to go to public ftp or public HTML, etc. You want to go to public HTML.
When you get started there shouldn’t be much in there. To upload WordPress go ahead and click upload then choose your zip file. Find your version of WordPress and click open and that will now upload the zip file. Once the upload is completed you can just exit out of this page. Go ahead and click reload and we can now see it in here.
We now want to extract that zip file so click on it and just click extract then click extract files. It should happen really quickly. Go ahead and hit reload again and we can now see this WordPress folder here. So our website is now in this WordPress folder but we don’t want it in there because that would be our domain.com for such WordPress. So let’s go ahead and highlight everything, click the move file and where it says /WordPress go ahead and delete that and then click move file.
If we click up one level we can now see all of these files in our website and this is the bones of WordPress.
If we have now downloaded and uploaded the WordPress software we now need to create a database. So Qmusic again for how WordPress works with the database. We have our WordPress website which is the framework that our website is built on but we also need a database to store that data. So WordPress will store data in a database called MySQL and we then pull from that data in order to display things on the website. So we now actually need to set up the MySQL database so it can interact with WordPress and WordPress can store information in this database. So that’s what we’re going to do.
Let’s go ahead and create our database. Back in cPanel here we’re going to scroll down and we want to look for the databases section and we’re going to click on MySQL databases.
So before we create a new database we actually need to create a user who can access that database. I’m going to create the user DS and we can see I’ve successfully created that user. Click on go back. I’m going to create a database for my website.
I’m going to call this database down smash because that’s what my website is called. Click on create database and the database is now created. And we now need to add the user to that database. So scroll down and where it says added user to database we want the user DS we just created with the database downsmash. Go ahead and click add and we want to give them all privileges and click make changes. And that’s how we create a database. So we’re actually almost finished. We now need to just add those database details into the wp config file. I’m going to show you exactly how to do.
Let’s click on the home button and go back into cPanel. We want to go back to the file manager and in our website here we’re going to see this wp config sample file. The first thing we need to do is actually rename that file and get rid of the sample at the end. So it should be wp-config.php. Let’s go ahead and rename that. We now need to edit it. So let’s go ahead and click on the code editor and then just click Edit.
This may not make sense you but don’t be overwhelmed because there’s actually only three things that we need to edit – the database name, the username and the password. Therefore I’m going to leave this open and in another tab I’m going to go back to the MySQL databases and I’m going to find my down smash database here.
The first thing I’m going to do is I’m going to copy the database name and where it says database name here I’m going to go ahead and paste that in. Where it says DB user or database user we’re actually going to go ahead and copy this username here and then where it says username here we’ll go ahead and paste it in.
The last thing to do is to enter the password. And this is the password you created when you added a new user. I’m therefore going to go ahead and enter in that password there. We then go ahead and click Save. Success – that is now saved so we can exit out of it.
Our last and final step is the final WordPress setup. To do this we want to go to our domain which in this case was downsmash.com and we want to go /wp-admin and click enter. That will now bring up the final setup process. So go ahead and check your language.
If for any reason the install page didn’t show you might need to wait that 24 to 48 hours for the name servers to work properly and then enter some details so the site name is going to be downsmash, choose your username and your password and enter in your email address. Do not, I repeat do not click this discourage search engines from indexing this site unless you really want the search engines not finding your website so don’t click that unless you really really want it, then go ahead and click install WordPress. Okay, success WordPress has been installed. So that’s now done.
If I now go to downsmash.com we can see that this website is now live. I can log in with the details I just shows by going to downsmash.com/wp-admin. I can go ahead and log in. This is now the backend of your website. Changing content, making it look different is a tutorial for another day but for now I’m just going to go ahead and add a new post saying welcome and thanks for watching my tutorial.
I’ll go ahead and click publish that. And if I go back to downsmash.com we can then see my welcome post here so we can see the website is definitely working.
And that completes our final WordPress setup. So that’s exactly how to create a WordPress website from scratch using a timeless strategy. I’ve been using this strategy since 2006 and it’s been working for over 10 years and it hasn’t really changed in that period of time.

Convert Kit has just released a new reporting tool that FINALLY allows you to see reports for a specified date range.
Hi guys, Ryan here from pelt.co. I’ve been a member of Convert Kit for over a year now and one of the things that always annoyed me is that you can’t look back in time at how many email subscribers you’ve gained over time. It only ever showed you the last 30 days. However that has just changed.
So let’s have a quick look at Convert Kit’s new reporting tool. If I jump in to Convert Kit you can see here the last 30 days which we’ve always had access to. You can see how many subscribers and you can break it down into the forms. You can see all my different forms down here and it breaks it down in terms of that. However, this is previously all we’ve had but now we actually have the option to change the date.
Therefore if we go ahead and click on this little icon on the right hand side we have some presets here so we can go ahead and look at the last three months and it breaks it down for us. We can look at the last six months and break it down into monthly totals. This is a really great feature.
This is something that you might not realize but you can actually set whatever date you want. If I hover over this the date changes to blue so if we click on that we can go ahead and set our own dates. Therefore let’s go ahead. We’ll start at January one and let’s just do the first half of the year so we’ll end at June 30th. We can now see that it is broken up into the different months; we can see the total for the range and we can also see the total number of subscribers.
This is the total that I have at this point in time I believe. It’s not the total at the end of that period which is a bit confusing but that’s alright. We can also go for all time and you can see that I actually became a member in September of 2015.
This is the new reporting tool and that is basically the functionality that you have. I wish they would do a bit more. I would really like the ability to export these reports and export this data. Because as you’ll see the OP which stands for On Property which is one of my websites dominates this in terms of subscribers. I actually have one PSP which is a public speaking website and I can’t really track the progress of that very well because it’s so mixed in with the website that has so much more data.
Therefore it would be great to be able to export it and to be able to take that out or to be able to see reports for particular forms over time. But unfortunately it doesn’t allow you to do that at this point. Nevertheless this is better than what we previously had.
I would also like to be able to see an up into the right graph where it shows total subscribers over time. And I would also love to be able to see unsubscribed over time because if you’re a serious internet marketer, understanding when people are unsubscribing and what’s causing them to unsubscribe so you can do things to counter that is obviously going to be very important.
Therefore this reporting tool isn’t perfect and they’ve still got a lot of work to do but at least now we can look at date ranges whereas in the past we were just stuck looking at the last 30 days or even less I think than 30 days – maybe the last 7 or 14 days or something like that. At least now we can look back and we can look over time which is a really big deal and finally Convert Kit has caught up.
So there we have a quick look at Convert Kit new reporting tool. I’m actually a really big fan of Convert Kit. It does a lot of things that standard email marketing platforms do not do. It is also very intuitive to use. If you are interested in Convert Kit please check it out through my affiliate link at pelt.co/ck.
I do get a commission for that but it doesn’t cost you anymore. So thank you if you go through that. Otherwise you can just go to convertkit.com. I don’t really mind but go ahead and check it out it is a great tool and hopefully in the future the reporting will improve even more.
I look forward to creating more Convert Kit tutorials in the future. If you haven’t please take the time right now to go ahead and subscribe to the channel to see all the future videos or go ahead and click one of the videos below to continue watching and to learn more about creating your own website or improving your online business.
Thanks for watching.

Here’s step by step instructions on how to run a split test email campaign in ConvertKit.
One of the things that is really limited about Convertkit which otherwise is a great email marketing software is its ability to run split test. Suppose you have a list of 10,000 people and you want to send out one version of an email to 5,000, one version of an email to another 5,000 you can’t do that in Convertkit. Well, I have actually worked out how to do it and I want to share with you how to run a split test email campaign in Convertkit. This isn’t super easy. There are some steps to go through and some manual work but you can make it happen.
Here are the steps for those of you who don’t want to go through the full tutorial. The first thing you need to do is you need to export your list into an Excel document. Therefore, you get your entire list and export it into an Excel document.
The next thing you need to do is to divide it randomly. There is a random function inside excel so you do that – divide it randomly. And you can then segment your list into two separate parts or pull out portions of your list. Once you’ve done that you then need to import that list, give them their own separate tags and you can create to email broadcast and only send it to people based on those tags. And lastly, you track it.
That’s exactly what we’re going to go through and I’ll show you how to do it. Just to make sure you know if you’re not a member of Convertkit yet but you want to become one I do have an affiliate link which helps fund this channel – go to www.pelt.co/ck for Convertkit and I really appreciate that.
The first step is to export your list. I find the easiest way to do this is to create a segment. If we go ahead and click create a segment we’ll give it a name. I’m just going to call it ‘example list’ because it’s for this example. You can add a whole bunch of different filters and you can match any, all or none, so you can exclude things and stuff like that. Let’s say I want ever on that has the tag OP General so I’m going to add that and I’m going to add filter so I don’t want any of my customers to be in this. I’m just kind of showing you a more complicated example. If I go to customers that should be [OPC] Customer here and so we’ll go ahead and create that, add filter and we can see that this is going down by about 300 people.
We will then go ahead and click Save. That will then create our segment which just makes it easier to export and this segment is constantly being updated. Go ahead click on the segment. We’ve got an example there. Let’s go ahead and highlight everyone. Therefore select all of these subscribers and we’re then going to go ahead and export it. Under Bulk Actions select Export and so it says “success your export is processing”. They’re going to send me an email with that export in there so we are just going to wait for that email to come through.
Great, that export file is ready. I can go ahead and download that file. I’m going to go ahead and open this file in Excel. Currently the excel document looks like this and I’ve hidden the email addresses just for this video but usually that would show email addresses. We need to create another column so let’s go ahead and call this Random and we need to put a formula in here that’s going to create random numbers. If we add =rand and then just do brackets like that () with nothing inside it that’s going to now generate a random number.
I’m going to go ahead and copy this. I’m going click on number 3 and I’m going to scroll all the way down to number 19000 (hold shift and click down to there) so I’ve got all those and we’ll go and paste it in and this is now going to create random numbers for everything. Let’s go ahead and we will sort this. Let’s add a filter in here and from random we can go ahead and click ascending or descending. It doesn’t matter but basically that’s now going to be random. We can see all the signup dates are very random there between 2015 and 2016. We can now begin dividing this list up into two different parts. All we’re going to need is the first name and email address.
For the example that I had I wanted to email 1,000 people out of my list of 20,000. You might want to send 50% somewhere, 50% somewhere else. Let’s just see how many emails do we have. We’ve got 19,353. It’s actually 19,352 because we got that first row for the headers. So half of that is 9670 so let’s go ahead and find 9670 which is here and basically what I’m going to do is highlight those too. I’m going to go all the way up to the top and I’m going to click shift. Let’s go ahead and copy those.
I’ll open up a new sheet and I’ll put first name, email and then I’ll go ahead and paste that in. So we’ve got those in there. I can now go ahead and delete all of these from this one. Hold on, let’s go ahead and we’ll highlight that one – go up to the top highlight number two and delete.
They should now be deleted. If I scroll down we can see that we’ve only got 9677 in this list. And in this list if we scroll down we should have a similar amount 9676 so slightly uneven by a couple of people but I’m not too worried about that. So let’s go ahead and export this as a CSV file so I’m just going to save it as csv. I’m going to call it List 1 and go ahead and click Save. So I saved the first tab as List 1. I then go to the second tab and save that as List 2. I’ve now got two csv files so I’ll save this tab as List 1 and I’ll save the original tab as List 2. S
o I’ve now got two csv files. So once you’ve exported and divided them randomly we’re then going to import and tag these. In order to tag them we first need to create a tag so let’s just create a tag and I’ll call it List 1. We can then also create another tag and we’ll call that one List 2. So you can obviously name these anything you want. As I said this wasn’t a simple thing to do but it can be done if you need to do it.
The next thing is to import subscribers so let’s go ahead and click on that. Now we want to add these subscribers to List 1 so let’s go ahead and do that. I’m going to pull in List 1 here and so first name and email and we’ll go ahead and click import subscribers. That will now go ahead and import our subscribers and we can see this one now has 9674 subscribers. You would repeat that same process for List 2 and that’s how we import and tag people. You’ve got two separate lists and they need to have two separate tags because that’s important when we send out to email broadcast.
Let’s go ahead and send out a broadcast. Click on broadcast – click on new broadcast and then what we want to do is we want to select it to match. We want people subscribe to the tag and we want List 1 so we’ll update that filter. For good measure I would also make sure that they’re not on this too – just so they’re not getting two emails because that is possible. So let’s make sure that they’re not subscribed to tag List 2. I haven’t imported List 2 yet so it won’t make any difference but that’s kind of just covering my bases in case I’ve made a mistake.
We then go through and we create our broadcast and then we put in the email subject, email content, create it and we can save it as a draft or we can send it out. We would then repeat the process But for list 2. we would want them to be tagged for List 2 and not for list 1 and we would make the changes that we wanted to make in our email. Ideally you would send them both out about the same time to get a good result or if you split test the time you sent it out then obviously you can stagger at those time. You therefore need to send out two individual email broadcast.
Then the last step is to track it. And tracking in Convertkit isn’t the best tracking in the world. However, you can get basic tracking. Let’s say I’ve just sent out this email recently we can see open rate and click through rate. I sent out this email about 20 minutes ago so we can see that. Ideally you would send out two of them and it had two next to each other so you can see a difference in open rate, see a difference in click through rate, see a different in unsubscribers or if you’re tracking conversions into things then you could send them to different landing pages and track the conversions based off that.
Basically that’s how to run a split test email campaign in Convertkit. You need to export your entire list, divide your list randomly using that Rand feature inside excel. And then you need to import and tag two separate csv files and give them separate tags. You then send out two email broadcasts based on those tags and you can then track it after that. So obviously with these two email broadcast here that’s where you are split testing things and making them different in some way.
That is how to run a split test email marketing campaign inside Convertkit. It is not easy. Hopefully soon Convertkit will add this feature as I know that a lot of people have requested this but at the moment if you are desperate to do it and you don’t want to move away from Convertkit which is a situation I was in this is a way to run a split test if you need to do it every once in a while.
I hope that this has been helpful to you. Again, I do highly recommend Convertkit. I absolutely love it even though it lacks this split testing feature because it’s just so user-friendly, it looks great, it’s easy to use in segmenting people and send out emails based on the actions people are taking. It’s really good. If you haven’t signed up yet and you want to I do appreciate if you go through my affiliate link at no extra cost to you. Just go to www.pelt.co/ck if that’s something you’re interested in.
That’s it from me guys. Go out there and work on your internet business and I hope that you achieved great success.

In this in-depth ConvertKit review I’m going to go through everything from pricing to features to help you work out if ConvertKit is right for you.
In this in-depth ConvertKit review, I’m going to go through everything from pricing to features and what makes CovertKit stand out from the rest. And I’m going to help you answer the question, “Is ConvertKit right for me?” I’ve used a lot of email service providers in the past, including Constant Contact, MailChimp, AWeber and most recently, Ontraport. But I’ve since moved over to ConvertKit and as we go through this review, you’ll see why.
I’ve also grown my subscriber base from 1,300 people to 13,000 people in the last 2 years in a small niche market about property investing in Australia. And I’ve created some pretty complex evergreen launch funnels so I know what I’m doing when it comes to email service providers and I know what features are important and what’s not.
In this ConvertKit review, I’m going to take you inside my account to show you exactly how ConvertKit works so you can work out whether it’s going to be right for you. Just a quick disclaimer that I am an affiliate of ConvertKit. So if you think that skews this review, then take this review with a grain of salt. However, please note that I am also an affiliate of a lot of other different email service providers as well who offer the same payouts as ConvertKit.
As we go through this review, you can check it out for yourself by going to convertkit.com or by going through my affiliate link at pelt.co/ck. If you go through that affiliate link, it won’t cost you anything more. However, I do get a small commission for that and as a way of saying thank you for going through my affiliate link, I do want to offer you a free bonus. Just go to pelt.co/bonus and you can get one of my paid products for free if you sign up through my affiliate link.
So, let’s get into it and look at what I think is the most important aspect to begin with and that is pricing. Now, their pricing starts from $29 per month for up to 1,000 subscribers. It’s then a sliding scale from there. You can go ahead and you can play with this tool. For 5,000 subscribers, it’s $79 a month. 10,000, it’s $119. $15,000, which is what I’m paying is $149 per month. And you can go ahead and you can slide up from there based on how many subscribers that you have.
This is very similar pricing to AWeber and MailChimp. ConvertKit is cheaper in some cases, slightly more expensive in other cases, but are basically evens out between them. They’re basically all the same price. And it’s much cheaper than something like Ontraport where you’re going to be paying $300 per month. And a lot, lot cheaper than Infusionsoft where you’re going to be paying upwards of $300 per month for that.
So when it comes to pricing, ConvertKit is more competitive than the more advanced email service providers like Ontraport and Infusionsoft. And their price-competitive with the more basic email service providers like AWeber, MailChimp, GetRespose and all of those ones. However, ConverKit has some features that put it above AWeber and MailChimp and make it more effective at sending out emails and getting conversions on those emails and we’ll talk through that in a second. So, when it comes to pricing, there’s really no reason I can see to not at least consider ConvertKit.
There’s a feature that every basic email service provider needs to have and that’s creating and sending emails and follow-up sequences – and ConvertKit does this really well. Once you’ve logged in to ConvertKit, manually sending out a broadcast to your list is really simple. We just go ahead and click on the Broadcast tab. We then go ahead and click on New Broadcast.
One of the features that makes ConvertKit better than AWeber and MailChimp and email service providers like that is the ability to add tags to your email subscribers. Based on these tags, or even the forms they filled out on the courses or the segments that they’re in, you can really segment your list for the broadcast that you’re sending out.
For example, I could send a different broadcast to my customers that I would send to, perhaps, my general list. So, what I can do is I can select the general people and let’s say I want to exclude customers in this case because I’m going to send this out to non-customers. I can just go ahead and exclude everyone with the Customer tag and go ahead and click Next. That’s something that you can’t really do with other email service providers. That ability to segment is really powerful.
Creating an email is really simple. You just put in your subject. Then, put in your content. I will quickly mention that one of the negatives of ConvertKit is that they don’t have many email templates at the moment. So you’ll either need to have your own html template that you can paste the code in, or you need to be happy sending out these basic text emails.
The email is now ready. I can test that by sending out an email to myself or I can actually preview it in the browser as well. You can send this email out immediately or you can delay it and send it out at a scheduled time – really easy to create those broadcast messages.
Creating the follow-up sequences is just as easy. You go to Courses, which is what they call follow-up sequences, and you click on the Create Course button. I’ll just name it, “Example 1 Course”. Now, the really great thing about the follow-up editor with ConvertKit is that they show you all the emails on the side here and you can edit them all together at once. It’s really to drag emails around, move things, edit things in here.
I can go ahead and edit this text. Whereas in other services, you would need to individually open a separate page for this email, go ahead edit it, save it, come back to the follow-up, go to the second email. You just have to jump back and forth a lot more. So this makes editing your follow-up sequence and understanding the sequence that you’re sending people through so much easier.
You can adjust the delays of the emails. So this one goes out one day after the last email. This one goes out two days after. This one goes out four days after. And you can also adjust when this course is sent out. So let’s say I only want to send out this follow-up sequence to subscribers on Monday and Thursday and I want my emails to go out at 8:00 AM in morning, I can go ahead and do that.
Once you’ve created a course and it’s been running for a while, you can then go through to Reports and you can see the open rates of each of those emails. How many people click through. How many it was sent out to and how many unsubscribed.
So creating and sending emails and follow-ups is really easy. Their autoresponder is, I think, one of the best in the industry. And creating broadcasts is really simple and you have the ability to segment people based on their tag or based on the form that they filled out on their webpage or based on the course that they’re currently in. And so, you can do that segmentations. So you can send out more targeted emails than you would be able to, otherwise.
The next thing that’s going to be really important is the ability to create sign up forms so people can sign up for your email list. Creating a form is very simple. You can go ahead and click Create Form. You can actually create a landing page with ConvertKit as well. So, if you want to send someone to a squeeze page, you can do that – which is really cool – or you can go ahead and create a form for your website.
You can see the different styles of forms. I’m just going to click this more advanced style here. I’ll just quickly show you in the settings you can go and change that form style at anytime. Or, you can show this form as Inline, which means it’s going to appear within your content, wherever you put the embed code. You can have it as Modal so it’s going to appear as a lightbox. Or, you can have it Slide In from the right-hand corner. So, if someone scrolls down your page, it can slide in and ask them to opt-in.
Editing your opt-in for is really easy. You can change the text. You can also go ahead and adjust the image if you want. One of the features that I love is that when someone has filled out your form and they then return to your website, you can continue to show the form, you can hide the form or you can actually show custom content, which I absolutely love. So you could show maybe a banner or a link to one of your products, now that they’re already an email subscriber. So this takes advantage of what would otherwise be dead space because they’re not going to sign up for your email list twice.
Another great feature with ConvertKit is the double opt-in email that you send out doesn’t have to be that boring, “Click this link to confirm your email address”. I can actually change this to, “Here’s your freebie. Click the link below to get it.” And they’ve got a button that says, “Get my freebie” and I can upload a file or I can actually change that to a URL and send them to a specific URL. And so, rather than them getting an email saying, “Please confirm our email address”.
They’ll get an email saying, “Here’s your freebie. Go ahead and click to get it.” And when they click it, they’ll get their freebie, but they’ll also be double opted-in to your email list. So it’s a much better experience. If you want single opt-ins as well, you can auto-confirm new members.
You also have the ability to add people to any follow-up sequence you want once they subscribe; and you can make that course mandatory if you want. Embedding the form is as simple as taking this little script and pasting it on to your website or you can do the full html as well if you want to customize it. You can also take this raw html code and put it into LeadPages. If you’re a LeadPages customer, then you can use ConvertKit with LeadPages.
For example, here’s my website. This is a LeadBox, it’s an image. When you click on it, it pops this up. If someone fills this out, they’ve then subscribed to my ConvertKit account and they go in there. The same as with this squeeze page; if they click on that, and they fill this out and click Reveal the Properties, they’ll then be subscribed to my email list in ConvertKit.
So creating sign up forms is really great. They’ve got some beautiful sign up forms there with the ability to show something else, like marketing a product for sale after someone has filled out a form. It also works with LeadPages, which is a big deal for me because all of my sign up forms are with LeadPages.
The thing that puts ConvertKit above the rest is the powerful automations that are built into the system. If you were to join something like AWeber, then once someone signs up for one list, that’s it. They’re on that list. You can’t move them between lists. You can’t tag them. If they take an action, you can’t do anything as a result. Whereas, with ConvertKit, you do have some powerful automations that you can do.
Let me quickly show you those. Inside ConvertKit, if we go to the Automation section, this is where you can create a whole bunch of different automations. We can go ahead and click Add Rule and we can see whenever someone subscribes to a course, we can also add a tag to them or we can create a broadcast draft or we can remove a tag. We can do all sorts of different things. What I love the best – I think the most useful ones – are when they complete a course, we can then subscribe them to another course or we can add a tag to them. Or, this one is the most powerful; when they click a link we can then subscribe them to a course.
We could also go ahead and add a tag for that user as well. So, let’s say someone clicks a link, they go into my product page. I’m just going to call it On Property Product and it’s my membership site, so onproperty.com.au/membership.
So, let’s say someone clicks a link to view my sales page. What I’m going to do is I’m going to add them to this launch funnel, which is then going to talk more about my membership site and encourage them to sign up. I’m also going to add a tag. I’ll just have the general tag for now, but ideally, I could add a tag to say that they’ve been through this funnel. Let’s go ahead and click Save Rule.
Now, when I go ahead and create a broadcast – let’s go ahead and go back to this broadcast that we were creating before. This is only going out to General. It’s not going out to customers. If I want to create a link in this broadcast, so we can see here, let’s create link to sales page from Ryan. If we go ahead and highlight this link, we can add a link trigger and we can see On Property Product here and we can go ahead and insert that link.
So I can put my content in here and a link. And now, that’s going to go out to my list of 12,500 recipients. If someone clicks that link, it tells me they’re actually slightly interested in my product and when they click that link, they’ll be added to another autoresponder sequence where it’ll talk more about my product. Share them some testimonials, encourage them to sign up.
So there’s some really powerful automations inside ConvertKit and they’re really easy to do. I used to be a member of Ontraport and managing your automations was just extremely difficult and very confusing. Whereas in ConvertKit, it’s made extremely simple.
The next that puts ConvertKit above the rest is the ability to tag your customers. So here’s one of my subscribers and if I go into the account, it shows all the tags that are associated with them. What you can do, let’s say I’ll delete some of these, is let’s say they become a customer or my membership site – that’s a Plus Customer. I can go ahead and just add that tag to them and then they’ll be associated with any emails that go out to Plus Customers and will now go out to this person.
I’ve actually got it set up in Zapier where when someone fills out a Stripe from or pays me via Stripe, they get tags added to them in ConvertKit. So, customer tagging is really powerful. I know they’re a customer and I know what products they purchased from me so I can adjust what emails I send them and don’t send them based on that.
Customer tagging is really powerful because you can then draw out segments. I only want to email people who bought a specific course from me or I want to email my list about that specific course, let’s exclude the people who have already purchased it so they’re not getting a sales message for something they’ve already purchased. So, tagging is very powerful.
So that basically covers my in-depth ConvertKit review. The basic requirements you’re going to need in any email marketing service is you need good pricing, which ConvertKit had. You need to be able to send broadcasts and follow-up sequences, which we are able to do within ConvertKit.
You need to be able to create sign up forms and to collect email addresses, which we can do in ConvertKit. Also, I can use LeadPages with ConvertKit, which is important to me. And they had that setting when someone fills out a form, I can then display something else to them, like a product advertisement or something like that.
There were some advanced features that ConvertKit had that sets it above your AWebers and your MailChimps of the world. The first one was the ability to tag your customers. So you can tag them based on whether they’re a customer or whether they’re not. Tag them based on the products that they’ve purchased or the courses they’ve gone through, etcetera. You can also move customers around between your different courses or follow-up sequences.
There’s the automations there. The one that I love the most is when they click a link, I can add them to an automatic follow-up sequence. And now, as well, ConvertKit is starting to be integrated into a lot of different platforms out there.
You can use them in LeadPages. You can use them in Zapier. LeadPages is about to create a new product called “Central”, which will have ConvertKit integration as well. And more and more people are starting to integrate with ConvertKit now because it is becoming really popular because it is such a great service.
The major negative of ConvertKit was the lack of email templates. So you would need to get some sort of html template that you could then paste into ConvertKit if you wanted to have a fancy-looking email and not just the plain text ones.
So there you have my in-depth ConvertKit review. So, what do you think? Is it right for you? If it is right for you, it’s really easy to import subscribers. You just export them as a .csv file from anywhere – from Aweber, MailChimp, all of those sort of guys. You just click Import Subscribers and then you can go ahead and put your .csv file in there and you can tag the people as you upload them. So, moving across to AWeber is really easy.
If you decide that, yup, I want to give ConvertKit a try, you can check it out for yourself. Go to convertkit.com or you can go through my affiliate link, which I really appreciate, at pelt.co/ck. As I mentioned before, you won’t pay anything extra. However, I do get a small referral fee and it does help to fund this channel. If you go through my affiliate link, I would like to say thank you and give you a free bonus. You can go to pelt.co/bonus in order to claim that bonus.
I hope that this review has been helpful for you and you can decide whether or not you’re going to give ConvertKit a try. They do have it’s either a 14 or a 30-day money back guarantee. So if you try it and it’s not for you, then you can get your money back, so highly recommended by me. I’ve moved through so many different email services as I’ve mentioned and I’ve ended up landing on ConvertKit and I’m absolutely in love with it. Again, the links – convertkit.com or pelt.co/ck for ConvertKit.

Leadpages is a popular landing page builder. In this in-depth Leadpages review I want to help you work out if Leadpages is right for you.
LeadPages is a popular landing page builder that has over 40,000 paying customers. In this in-depth LeadPages review, I want to help you to decide whether or not LeadPages is right for you.
I am a LeadPages user myself, which means I am going to take you into the backend of my account and show you how LeadPages works. And just a quick disclaimer, that I’m also an affiliate of LeadPages. So, if you think that skews my review, you may want to take this review with a grain of salt. If you want to check out LeadPages yourself, you can go to leadpages.net or you can go through my affiliate link, which I’ll massively appreciate at pelt.co/lp for LeadPages.
You won’t pay anything more through that. However, I do get a small commission which helps to fund this channel. Plus, if you go through that affiliate link, I do want to say thank you by giving you one of my paid products for free. Go to pelt.co/bonus in order to get access to that bonus.
In this video, we’re going to do an overall review of LeadPages, look at the key features inside of LeadPages. Talk about the price of LeadPages and compare that to its major competitor. We’ll look at some of the different purposes you can use LeadPages for and we’ll also talk about why is LeadPages loved by so many different customers.
The first thing I want to look at is the features of LeadPages. The main feature of LeadPages is their landing page templates that you can customize for your own business. So here I am, I’m logged in. There are so many different landing page templates that you can choose from. There’s so many that are available for free. And also, there’s more – a lot more templates that you can get if you’re willing to pay a bit of money. We can see this template is $7. We can see this one’s $7. And so, people can create paid templates that you can purchase if you want something that is more customized to you.
Editing a landing page is really simple. We just go ahead and click use this template and we can change everything in here really easily. Just by simply clicking on it, you can go ahead and you can change things like the logo. You can go ahead and you can change the text really easily as well. I’ll go into more detail on the editor and how to do it later, but you can also hide things as well. If you don’t want things, you can go ahead and hide a whole bunch of different stuff. So, it’s quite customizable and gives you a really great-looking landing page.
Another feature which makes LeadPages so popular is their 2-step opt-in process. Here’s a LeadPage at the moment. Usually, when you send someone to a squeeze page like this, you would ask for their email address on this page where they would fill it out and enter it. But by having just one button that they click, and it then creates this pop-up where they can enter their name and email address, it improves conversions. This has made LeadPages extremely popular. This 2-click opt-in feature is also extended into what they call “LeadBoxes”, which is links that you can put on your site – anywhere on your site that create this double opt-in process.
So if I go to my site which is onproperty.com.au, I’ve got an image here that if someone clicks on it, then it pops up that box. It can be an image, it can be a link. There’s another image on the side. If someone clicks it, it pops up. So this 2-step opt-in process is really powerful. And with the functionality of being able to create a squeeze page or a LeadBox, which is a link that you put on your site, it becomes very powerful.
LeadLinks is a more advanced feature which allows you to create a link that someone can send out in their email autoresponder and when someone clicks it, it can automatically register them for your list or register them for a webinar without them having to fill in their details again.
LeadDigits is another more advanced feature that you can use to get people to text a certain number that they give you, like “33444” an they can get added to your email list through their text message. So, that’s very powerful as well.
Another powerful feature that they just added and they’re still working on is this ability to create your own custom template using LeadPages. If you have a website template, you can upload it. Or, you can also import from a webpage. So let’s say I have a sales page like this one on nathanbarry.com which I think is absolutely beautiful. Now, you need to own your own page to be able to do this. I couldn’t actually use this page, but for an example, I’ll just show you. We go ahead and we import it and that is now going to import the page. So I can now go through this template and edit things like the text. I can also edit things like the links and I can go through and I can change a whole bunch of different things.
Depending on your webpage, it’s not going to be perfect. As we can see, some of this overlays here and some of these are a bit difficult to edit. But it is a really cool tool and they’ll continue to work on it. You can see it’s in beta, so it’s got some problems at the moment.
However, you will be spending the majority of your time with LeadPages creating templates. Either sales pages, squeeze pages, webinar registration pages, pricing pages, up-sale pages, all of that sort of stuff. Or you’ll be creating LeadBoxes which are links or images that you can put on your site. When someone clicks it, it generates that pop-up to help them opt-in to your list. So, that’s the main overview of the features of LeadPages. They also integrate with a whole bunch of different email service providers, so adding someone from your LeadPage or LeadBox to your list is really simple.
Next, let’s have a look at the price of LeadPages. So, if we go through my affiliate link, pelt.co/lp, which I thank you for, and we go ahead and click on the Pricing tab. Then we can see all the pricing for LeadPages. If we go to monthly pricing, this is just month by month, no contract at all. It starts at $37 per month, which allows you to build as many landing pages as you want, as well as, as many LeadBoxes as you want. Truthfully, they’re the 2 things that you’re going to be using LeadPages the most for.
If you go up to the Pro Monthly, then you get html export. If you want to edit it, get a developer in there. You can A/B Split Test. You get those LeadLinks and LeadDigits we talked about. You also get that page builder, access to the affiliate program and some priority support as well. If you go to annual, you do get a bit of a discount but you need to page for a year upfront. Standard goes down to $25. Pro goes down to $49. You also have this Advanced Annual option, where the main difference is you get sub-accounts.
So you get extra accounts you can give out to clients or to your team. You can also have HubSpot, Marketo, Salesforce integration as well as a template importer. So if you want to create your own at LeadPage templates and sell them, then you’re going to need to get that option. There’s also the 2-year billing, which drops the price down again to $17 a month but you need to pay upfront for 2 years. Pro drops down to $42 a month for 2 years and Advanced drops to $159.
How does that compare to other places? Instapage is probably their biggest competitor. They don’t show you the pricing on their sales page, which is annoying. But here’s their pricing page and we can see Basic is $29 per month. You’re getting unlimited pages, which is the same as LeadPages. However you can do 2 A/B split test. However, there’s no LeadBox functionality which is a bit annoying. Professional, which is $55 a month gives you the ability for full custom code editing an extra client account and a template importer. And the Premium which is $79 a month also allows you to give access to team members, gives you this Webhook integration as well as Pro Template Reviews. Instapage also has a free 45-day trial.
Compared to the pricing at LeadPages, it is a little bit cheaper. However, if we go annual, then basically it’s the same price or LeadPages becomes cheaper if we pay upfront annually. So, very similar in terms of pricing. Instapage is a bit cheaper, but you don’ get those LeadBoxes.
Now, one of the main purposes of LeadPages. What needs do you have to have for LeadPages to be worth it for you? There’s 2 main purposes you’re probably going to want to use LeadPages for. The first is to get people to opt-in to things. Like this one, to get people to opt-in to my email list. Or, maybe you want to get people to opt-in to a webinar really easily. If you want to improve your opt-in rates, then LeadPages have some of the highest converting opt-in pages on the market. As well as the ability to add LeadBoxes to any page on your website, like this one. At the bottom of the page where I can offer a freebie and get people to sign up for something for free.
Here’s another cool example of LeadBox where I’m giving away a freebie, which is a price list for people questioning, “How much does it cost to build a house?” If they click this, they can fill it out and they’re going to get a free price list which LeadPages will deliver to them straight away. So, they get added to my list, LeadPages will send out the custom freebie. So I can customize my giveaways while still adding people to the same list with LeadPages.
That’s a major purpose – is to collect opt-ins. The secondary purpose would be to create sales pages. LeadPages has a lot of different sales pages. We can see pricing pages. We can see an e-commerce page here. A lot of video sales letters that you can go ahead and create as well. So you can see through here that there’s so many different templates for sales pages that you can create. We can go through their paid templates if we want to get really specific and find a sales page that we think looks beautiful and suits us.
Let’s say we’re selling hamburgers, we might want this one. If we’re selling an app, we might want one that looks like this. So if you’re not a designer yourself and you need to be able to create a sales page, then that is going to be a major purpose for LeadPages as well.
So, really, there’s only 2 main purposes for LeadPages. One is to improve your conversion rate for people on to your email list. You do this through the squeeze pages that they have, as well as the LeadBoxes that they have and that 2-step opt-in process. And the second purpose is to create beautifully designed sales pages or landing pages. So if you’re not a designer, you can go in, get a beautiful design and it’s really easy to customize it.
I just wanted to talk quickly about why LeadPages is loved so much. I think the first reason LeadPages is loved so much is it’s really simple to create high-converting opt-in pages. So, if you’re sending traffic to a squeeze page, more people are likely to convert if you’re sending them to a LeadPage than if you send them to a page that you create for yourself. They’re also really easy to customize and edit. It’s just really simple to go in and to replace things with your own logo and to change the words and to make it look your own by changing the pictures and things like that.
So you can really change the page so it looks like your branding but you know that it’s going to convert at a higher rate. So that’s the first reason why it’s loved. Because if I was getting a 10% opt-in rate and LeadPages can give me a 30% or a 40% opt-in rate, then I’m getting 3-4 times more email subscribers than I would have got before. For me, that is absolutely worth paying for.
The second reason why it’s loved is what we’ve already talked about, which is the ability to create beautifully-designed sales pages. So, I’m not a copyrighter. I’m not a designer myself. It’s difficult for me to create good sales pages or good up-sale pages. However, with LeadPages, I can just grab a template, I can edit my copy. And all of a sudden, I’ve got a good sales page that I know is going to convert and is going to be a good start for me. LeadPages are also continually adding new things. When I signed up, there was just the ability to create a LeadPage. Since then, they’ve added A/B testing. They’ve added LeadBoxes. They’ve added LeadLinks.
They’ve added LeadDigits. They’ve added that page importer. They’ve added custom templates that people can upload and you can pay for. So they’re constantly in development. They’re constantly adding things. So the service is getting better and better over time. However, when you sign up, they lock you in at the price that you sign up. Which means as their price increases over time, you don’t pay any more money.
For example, I’m an advanced 2-year member and if you were to go ahead and sign up for that now, it’s $159 per month over 2 years, which is about $3,800. I’m an advanced 2-year member and I pay $800 every 2 years. So about $40 per month, very similar to the Pro account. But I’m locked in to that price because I was an earlier-adopter member and they do the same with pricing as they grow. They lock you in, they treat you really well and I think that’s another reason why it’s loved so much.
That completes the in-depth LeadPages review and I hope that I helped you answer the question, “Is LeadPages right for me?” If you want to get more opt-ins for your website, I definitely recommend LeadPages. Here’s my LeadBoxes and you can see my biggest one has a 30% conversion rate. So everyone who clicks a link that opens this LeadBox, 30% of them sign up. 33% for this one. 40% for this one. 13%, 28%, so you can see these LeadBoxes are extremely high-converting as are the squeeze pages.
So if you need really high-converting LeadBoxes that opens when someone clicks a link or squeeze pages that you’re sending people to, then LeadPages is definitely going to be a good service for you. They also have high-converting sales pages. Or if you need help creating sales pages, then it’s probably going to be right for you as well.
You can go ahead and check out LeadPages, just go to leadpages.net or you can go through my affiliate link at pelt.co/lp. That won’t cost you anything more, but I do get a commission and it helps support this channel. If you go through my affiliate link, please go to pelt.co/bonus as I want to give you one of my paid products absolutely free as a way of saying, “Thanks for signing up through my affiliate link.” Again, that link is pelt.co/lp.
So that completes this in-depth LeadPages review. I hope that you’ve discovered whether or not it’s right for you. And if it is right for you, you can go ahead and create some of those high-converting landing pages.
I just wanted to say a quick thank you to LeadPages for everything they’ve done for my business, to help grow my subscriber list from 1,300 to about 13,000 in the last 2 years. Largely in part due to LeadPages and the higher conversion rates I’m getting from them. This is a product that I use and absolutely recommend. I hope that you’ve enjoyed this review and I hope that you go ahead and check it out for yourself.
Don’t forget to give us a thumbs up an to subscribe to the channel as it helps expose this video to more people. You can get more tutorials and lessons like How to Create an Evergreen Launch Funnel using LeadPages over at my website. Just go to pelt.co.

What is the best countdown timer to use for your sales or limited time offers? Let’s compare Countdown Monkey vs Timerlay to see which is the best option.
Hey! Welcome to the showdown between Countdown Monkey versus Timerlay. If you are trying to put a countdown timer on any of your sales pages or special offers, then Countdown Monkey and Timerlay are the two most prominent timers in this industry. So I’m going to do a showdown today and compare Countdown Monkey versus Timerlay so you can see which one is actually going to be best for you. Just so you know, I have used both of these products.
I am currently using Countdown Monkey, but I have used Timerlay in the past and was a member for a few months for Timerlay and used it on a couple of my sales pages. And a disclaimer, I am an affiliate for these products. However, I’m an affiliate for both products, so I’m not sure whether or not that skews the results. I’ll leave it up to you to decide.
Here’s my affiliate links. If you got through these, it won’t cost any more, but I do get a small commission and I thank you very much for that. For Countdown Monkey, it’s pelt.co/monkey or for Timerlay, it’s pelt.co/timerlay and the links will be below as well. If you sign up through one of my affiliate links, then I do want to say thank you by giving you a free bonus. You can get one of my products that most people usually pay for, you can get it absolutely free. Just go to pelt.co/bonus.
Okay, let’s get in to it. Countdown Monkey versus Timerlay. Who is going to win out? Who is going to be my recommendation? And what is going to be best to for you? We’re going to have 6 different rounds all based on different things.
Round 1, the big one. Pricing. Let’s have a look at the different pricing. Let’s start with Countdown Monkey. We go to their sales page and scroll down and we can see an Annual Pro Account, so it’s $79 per year. Now, if we go to Timerlay and try and find the pricing, we can’t find it. But if we go to sign up, then it’s going to take us to a sign up page and it’s going to give us the price here. So, today’s price, $249.95 for 365 days. So, $250 a year versus $79 a year. So, no guesses, who wins round 1? The winner is Countdown Monkey. Countdown Monkey is leagues ahead in terms of pricing compared to Timerlay.
Now, round 2, basic functionality. What do these timers do and are they going to have the functionality that we need? Because it’s all well and good if it’s cheaper, but if it doesn’t do what we want it to do, then what is the point? I have to tell you that the functionality, it’s a very close one. So, let’s have a look at it.
Both of these services are SaaS products – Software as a Service. So, you sign up and they host all of your timers for you and you use their portal in order to create your timers. So, here’s Countdown Monkey, you can see your timers here. And here’s Timerlay where you can see your timers there. I don’t actually have access to Timerlay anymore, so I’m using screenshots from their tutorials. To create a new timer, let’s look at Countdown Monkey.
You click on New Countdown. You can go ahead and adjust the look of the countdown timer where you’ve got a whole bunch of different animation styles and different looks. You can make it dark. You can make it light. You can name it. You can do a countdown type, day or time. So, it’s going to end on this Saturday at 7:00 PM or you can do Evergreen. So, as soon as someone loads the page, they’ve got 4 days to check out. And it’ll put a cookie on their browser so that it knows that they only have that much time. We also have an expiry action, so you can do nothing. You can hide the counter, instant redirect or you can add a day or add custom time.
The Timerlay functionality is very similar to that of Countdown Monkey with a few extra features thrown in. So, you can name your timer the same. Timerlay does focus on directing people to their short link, timerlay.com/the short link that you create, rather than putting it on your own site. If we go into Countdown Monkey, then they give us a code for our countdown, but it really is something that we need to port on our own site. Whereas, Timerlay will host that page for you or host the countdown timer for you. So the way that it works is that you can set a destination URL, which can be absolutely anything. So, it can be your website.
It could be an affiliate offer. It could be an affiliate offer. It could be cnn.com, like they’ve done in this example. But basically, you put the destination URL, you send your audience to timerlay.com/your link. It’ll then load the destination URL and put a timer over the top of that. So that’s a cool feature that Timerlay has that Countdown Monkey doesn’t have.
When it comes time and the timer has ended, both Countdown Monkey and Timerlay allow you to redirect somewhere else. However, Countdown Monkey does have the option to hide the countdown, to add a day, to add a specific amount of time. Whereas, Timerlay doesn’t have that feature. However, you can manually close down the timer and hide the timer, if you want, inside Timerlay. Whereas, with Countdown Monkey, you would have to go in and remove the code from your website yourself.
With Timerlay, again, you can do a specific date or you can also do Evergreen. You then have a whole bunch of different options. So you can make – here’s a whole bunch of different looks that you can have and so you can adjust things there. But basically, it’s pretty similar to Countdown Monkey. You’ve got 4 different styles. You can then have black and white and you can also round the corners of your timer. Now, the way these displays are different and we’ll get into that in a second. But with Countdown Monkey, they’re going to have to have to win in terms of this one because they just have more different animation styles. So, heavy metal, fader.
They’ve got a whole bunch of different animation styles and they’ve also got a whole bunch of different text styles and text colors and backgrounds. And so, you can just do a little bit more with Countdown Monkey there.
However, one of the awesome things about Timerlay is that you can add text to your timer bar. So you have a bar that appears on the top or the bottom of your page and you can add text to it like. “This campaign expires in…” and you can’t do that with Countdown Monkey. You can only create the timer and you need to manually place the text yourself on your website, which can be a bit more difficult.
Now, Timerlay does also allow you to embed it on your website and you can do a whole bunch of different things with their embed options. So you can make it smaller, so maybe only want it 600 pixels wide, you can do that. You can move this text to be above it. You can adjust it a bit more.
So, in round number 2, for basic functionality, the winner does have to go to Timerlay because they had that extra functionality of that you can do any website and put a timer over the top of it. Also, you can embed it or you can host it on their page. However, Countdown Monkey did have more customization options in terms of the look. But then Timerlay allowed you to add text. It was a really close call, but I’m going to have to give it to Timerlay.
Round number 3 is mobile responsiveness. Now, this is a big one. More than 50% of my traffic comes through mobile. So, it looking great on a mobile phone is really important to me. So, here’s an example of a Countdown Monkey timer on one of my pages. Let’s go ahead and shrink that down so it’s the size of an iPhone and we can see that it’s not actually mobile-responsive. It actually appears out to the sides.
So, definitely not ideal. However, when someone loads the page, they’ll still see 1 day, 2 hours, 47 minutes and it fits nicely in there. They just won’t necessarily know that the seconds are in there. So it’s a bit annoying that it’s not perfectly mobile-responsive, but at least it still looks pretty good.
Now, let’s go to Timerlay’s page. We can see here that they have a CNN example and we can see this page expires in 4 days. But what you’ll find with Timerlay, because on a phone, we’re probably dealing with something a bit smaller, is that it actually hangs there and gets in the way. And there’s no way to exit out of it, which I find really annoying. Whereas, with Countdown Monkey, it stays up the top or it stays wherever you put it and you can scroll through the page.
So, the timer’s there, people know about it, but it’s not intrusive. Whereas, Timerlay is quite intrusive. And if you begin going into like a wide sort of iPhone thing here, then Timerlay really takes up the majority of the page, especially something like CNN where the header just stays there. Really, it makes this page unusable. So, that is very worrying. However, with Countdown Monkey, if it’s sideways, then it looks great and it just stays at the place you’ve embedded it.
So, for round number 3, mobile responsiveness, I’m going to have to go with no winner at all. Look, if I had to give a winner, I would give it to Countdown Monkey just because it’s less intrusive and isn’t going to break your page. But really, both of them need to work on their mobile responsiveness.
Round number 4 is the ease of use. How easy is it to create these timers and to use these timers? Really, both of them are just as simple as each other. If I go into Countdown Monkey, if I want to create a new countdown timer, it’s super simple. I can edit this stuff if I want or I can just name it. Set a date and time. Let’s go ahead and set it for next Saturday. And then expire URL, let’s just go ahead and put in my expiry URL and I can go ahead and save that. Now, I can go ahead and embed this. It’s very, very easy.
Same with Timerlay, there’s a few more steps to go through, I think with Timerlay. It’s a slightly more cumbersome, but it’s still very easy to do. And at least, at the end, Timerlay can just give you a link that says, “Go to timerlay.com/yourpage” and it will then present that page with the timer on it.
So, when it comes to ease of use, I’m to give it to Countdown Monkey because it’s just quicker to create timers. Really easy to manage timers as well. When I had an evergreen launch funnel going, I would need to update my timer each week. So, all I would do is just go and click edit and then I would go and I would change the date to the following Saturday. Click save and it was already embedded on my page and that will then just adjust. So I didn’t need to adjust the Timerlay link or anything like that. So I’m going to give the winner to Countdown Monkey for ease of use.
Now, let’s look at flexibility. What can you do with this? What is more flexible? Basically, what I’m trying to assess here is which timer can I do more things with? I can do evergreen, I can do date and time with both of them. However, with Timerlay, there is that flexibility to overlay it on top of another page. Now, the chance of you doing it over CNN is very small. However, there could be an affiliate offer for a product that you want to market and you could put a time expiry on that link as well.
So, maybe you’re giving away a special bonus with the affiliate offer only for a certain amount of time, you can go ahead and do that. But you can send people to the affiliate page, which isn’t technically your own page, but you can load a timer on there.
So, when it goes to flexibility, I am going to have to give the winner to Timerlay because you can overlay on top of other people’s websites and you can also embed it as well. However, I do think that the Countdown Monkey timer is a better one to embed.
Lastly, round 6 is the problems. What problems do I have with each of these timers? We’ve already talked about the mobile responsiveness of these timers. Especially Timerlay, if you go horizontal on a phone, then basically, it’s going to break your page. Whereas Countdown Monkey isn’t going to do that if you go small on a phone. It’s going to extend a bit, but it still looks good and it still works and serves its purpose – just not 100%.
They’re really the only problems with these two services that I can see. The only other problem is they’re a SaaS product and so I’ve got to pay for them every single year. I can’t just buy a timer once, put it on my website and be done with it. I need to pay every year to manage it. So, that is a problem, but what am I going to do? I can’t create the code myself.
So for round number 6 – problems, I’m going to give it winner, Countdown Monkey just because Timerlay has that problem where it can potentially break a page. Where someone can’t actually see your content and there’s not point them seeing a timer but not seeing the content.
So what do I think for the best option and my recommendation? I’m going to have to give the winner to Countdown Monkey mainly because of their pricing. Really, it’s such a big significant difference between the two. We’re talking $79 versus $250 every single year. So it’s basically almost $200 difference between the two with very similar functionality. The only reason I would go with Timerlay was if I really wanted that feature of being able to overlay on someone else’s site – like an affiliate offer. Then I would definitely choose Timerlay.
But apart from that, I would definitely go with Countdown Monkey. It’s just a better-priced, it is a great service. I’ve used it for over a year now. I used to be with Timerlay. I’ve since moved over to Countdown Monkey and I haven’t missed Timerlay at all. So, definitely go with Countdown Monkey if you’re on the fence. But if you really need that feature, then you can check out Timerlay.
My affiliate link, again, for Countdown Monkey is pelt.co/monkey.

In this lesson I’ll show you exactly how to setup aweber single opt-in lists so email subscribers don’t have to double-opt in to your email list.
So you want to create a single opt-in email list for one reason or another. In this video I am going to show you how to set up AWeber for single opt-in.
This is going to work for new list that you are creating within AWeber as well as any existing list that you may have had. And I had to do this in the past because in my website which is Property Investing in Australia, a lot of people do not do the double opt-in confirmation because they are just not super tech savvy. So I prefer the single opt-in even though it is not industry best practice. So let us go into AWeber and I will show you how to do it.
So here we are in AWeber. We go up to the top where it says manage list and we go ahead and click on that one. First, I am going to show you the process for a creating a new list and then what to do when you have an existing list. So let us go through and create a list really quickly first. All these details are fine, just click next. I will just name this list ‘example.’ And we can see here, to approve our confirmation message and there is no option to turn it off. But that is alright, we do not need to do it right now.
Just click approve message and create list. Do not adjust that message at all. Just click that approve message and create list button. Now we are going to go back into manage list and this is the process that you would do for an existing list so you cannot do it on set up, you actually have to do it with an existing list. So let us go back to our list ‘example’ and we go ahead and click on that to edit it. And where it says confirmed opt-in on the left-hand side here.
Let us go ahead and click on that. Now here is our confirmation message but it is now giving us an option to send a confirmed opt-in email for web forms so we can go ahead and click on that. Then go ahead and click yes and that is now going to go ahead and turn that off. Then click save settings and now we have created a single opt-in email list within AWeber.
There is a tool that goes one better which is called ConvertKit. And if I go into my form – so let us go into this free listing form, if I go into the settings of this form, I can have this incentive email here. And so these people are signing up to get some free property listings and so I say, “Here are your property listings. Thanks for signing up. As promised here are your property listings.” And they can then click this big button to go and view their property listings.
However, when they click that button they are then double opted-in. And also I can order confirm new members as well. So people can double opt-in but they can also be single opt-in and it is not one of those annoying ‘you need to click this link to confirm your email.’ They are getting what they were promised – the freebie that they promised, but when they act on that and they click on that then it confirms their email. So that is a really cool thing that ConvertKit does.
ConvertKit also allows you to add automations so I can go ahead and add a rule. And the thing that I love is when someone clicks the link I can then subscribe them to a course. So I could send out an email to my general list which is like 12,000 people and say, “Hey look! Here is an interesting product.” If someone clicks on that product I can subscribe them to a mini course that goes into more details about the benefits of that product and tries to sell them on it because I know that they are interested in it. So that is a really powerful thing.
So if you are looking for a single opt-in service that is better than AWeber, then I do recommend ConvertKit. You can go through my affiliate link at pelt.co/ck which I massively appreciate if you do that. It will not cost you any more but I will get a small commission. And just so you know I am not recommending ConvertKit because of the commission. The commission is the same that I get with AWeber and the pricing is basically the same as well.
So I would make the same amount if you went with AWeber as you went with ConvertKit but I recommend it because I think that it is awesome. Plus if you sign up through any of my affiliate links you can get access to a free bonus. You can get one of my paid courses for free. Just go over to pelt.co/bonus to choose your bonus over there.
So I hope that this has helped you learn how to set up an AWeber single opt-in email list. If this video did help you please give us a thumbs up so more people can find this video. And if you want more tutorials like How To Create an Evergreen Launch Funnel with Your Email List or How to Create A Membership Site then you can find them all, go to pelt.co to see them.

If you want to leave aweber for one reason or another here are the exact steps on how to cancel your aweber account. It’s actually really easy.
So you’re done with AWeber for one reason or another. But how do you cancel your AWeber account and say, “buh-bye” to AWeber and make sure that they’re not charging you anymore?
Well, the first thing that you need to do is to actually export your contacts, because you don’t want to lose them and they will disappear as soon as you cancel your AWeber account. So I’m going to show you how to do that first. And then, I’ll show you exactly how to cancel your AWeber account.
To export your contacts, login to AWeber and choose the list that you want to export from. Then got to Subscribers and click on Manage Subscribers. You then want to click on this Export CSV file. And that is going to download a .csv file that will have all the details of your subscribers in there. So here’s the .csv file there. You may also first want to go in Filters here. Go to unsubscribed. You may want to go through and delete all the unsubscribed people first because you’re not going to need to move them across to a new email service provider. You only want the people who are still subscribed.
If you’re leaving AWeber and you’re looking for another service, then I would like to recommend ConvertKit to you. I recently did a video on the 10 Best Email Marketing Services and ConvertKit came out as the best service. Very similar pricing to AWeber, cheaper in some circumstances and it’s just beautiful to use. It has a lot of automated marketing features in there as well; like you can send out a broadcast.
If someone clicks the link, they can be added to a unique autoresponder to market a product or whatever it may be. Go ahead, check out ConvertKit through my affiliate link, pelt.co/ck. If you sign up through the affiliate link, then I do have some free bonuses for you that you can choose from. Just go to pelt.co/bonus to choose your free bonus if you sign up through my affiliate link.
Okay. Let’s stop wasting your time and let me show you how to cancel your AWeber account. Inside AWeber, you want to go up to your name in the top right and you want to click on the My Account tab. You then want to go to the Billing tab on the left hand side here and we can see this Close My Account button. So, go ahead and click on the Close My Account. And then, they’ll ask you to fill out a form, which you can do and you can then go ahead close your account that way.
I think it does take a couple of days to close, but it should definitely close and you shouldn’t have any issues with that. They’ll then stop charging you. You’ll lose access. You won’t have your details of your subscribers anymore and your account will be closed.
So that’s how to cancel your AWeber account. If you like this video, don’t forget, please give us a thumbs up as it helps more people to find this solution. You can find more tutorials and lessons; like how to create an evergreen launch funnel or how to setup a membership site over at my website. Just go to pelt.co to find all of them over there.
And until next time, guys. Keep learning.
[youtube id=”VUqD1n5ozUM” align=”left” mode=”lazyload” maxwidth=”500″]
What are the best email marketing services out there? I have been using these services since 2006 and done a lot of research. Here is my list of the 10 best email marketing services available today.
I’ve been doing email marketing for almost 10 years now across a bunch of different websites and have list of over 13,000 email subscribers. So, I’ve done a lot of research on all of the email marketing services out there. Today, I want to share with you the 10 best email marketing services that are available right now.
I’m going to assume that you’re an internet marketer, a small business, a medium business or an e-commerce store. If you are a super large business, Fortune 500 company, then you may want to go with something that you need a sales consultant in order to buy. But I’m going to assume that most of us are small fish in a very big sea and we just want something to be able to send out emails to people.
Maybe do some automation or if you’re an e-commerce store, you may want to do some automation based on the different types of products people view or based on their checkout pages. If they don’t buy, you might want to send them a reminder that they can check out. They’re the assumptions that we’re going run with.
Also, I want to throw out a disclaimer that I am an affiliate for most of these products. However, I’m not really biased to one or the other except for based on what I actually think is the best. Because they all basically offer the same sort of thing – they’re all are similar-priced, same sort of percentage.
So, I want to give an honest review. But just know that I’m an affiliate for most of these products. And a note before we get into it is that no service is absolutely perfect. And so, you need to find what’s right for you. A great thing about a lot of these products is that there’s some free trials or they have money-back guarantees for the first 2 weeks or whatever it may be.
So let’s look at 5 to start with. The best email marketing services just for sending out blasts and autoresponders and maybe you want some light email marketing automation. So, if someone clicks a link, you can add them to a course or you can add tags and move them around, that sort of thing. So, just a quick note before we get into it on pricing that all of these are basically the same price when you start getting up to over 500, over 1,000 email subscribers.
However, in the beginning, MailChimp does have a free service for up to 2,000 email subscribers. But they don’t have follow-up sequences in that free service. And with AWeber, you get the first month for free. So, that’s just something to think about.
Let’s start with the best of the best because I don’t want to waste your time. The best email marketing services for blasts and autoresponders with, maybe, a little bit of light automation thrown in there is a new comer to the market called, “Covert Kit”. Convert Kit has been around 12 months, maybe 18 months or something like that. It is fairly new in the industry, but it is absolutely awesome. You can check it out at pelt.co/ck.
Convert Kit is absolutely beautiful to use. If I go ahead and sign in, then you can see how beautiful it is. I’ve used AWeber in the past. I’ve used Ontraport and they feel like using some old school Windows phone and Convert Kit feels like using an iPhone. It all just makes sense. You’ve got forms here, if you need to create a form for people to subscribe to your email list.
It’s as easy as clicking create form and they have a whole bunch of different options on the forms that you can create. And you can also have ones that create a Lightbox or you can have ones that pop in from the side of your page. You can create courses which are your follow-up sequences – they’re super easy to create. You just go ahead and click “Create Course”. You can name your course, let’s just name it “sgdfgdf”. And then you can go through and add your content here.
I love that all the content is one this one page and I can go through and edit it. Whereas, every other email editor out there makes you do individual emails and then exit out to manage your follow-up. But this allows you to edit emails as well as manage your follow-up and drag things around and change the delays on it – all within the one page. So, it’s just super easy to use.
You can send out broadcasts as well. You can manage your subscribers. And one of the great things about Convert Kit that made it beat AWeber and beat MailChimp and the other ones out there is that you can add tags to subscribers and you can really customize your subscribers. So you can go through and adjust the courses that they’re in.
You can adjust their tags based on whether they purchased a product or actions that they’ve taken. The thing that I love about Convert Kit which definitely makes it better than AWeber and MailChimp is that you can add automation. So, if someone subscribes to a form or if they finish a form, then you can subscribe them to another course.
But what I love the best is when you go to add a rule, you can click a link and then subscribe them to a course. So I can send out an email to my 13,000 email subscribers, let’s say linking to the sales page for my product. If they go ahead and click on that, I assume that they’re interested in my product. I can then subscribe them to an automatic follow-up sequence that will talk about the benefits of my product, why they should buy it and encourage them to buy it. So being able to put links in your emails that automatically subscribe them to courses or automatically add tags to them, then that is a really awesome thing.
So, number 1 definitely is Convert Kit – the best email marketing service for if you’re sending out blasts and autoresponders. Just beautiful to use, it’s got those automations. I absolutely love it.
Number 2 is MailChimp, which is a really, really popular service. I’m not going to have time to go into all of these in super detail. Otherwise, we’ll be here for about 7 hours. But MailChimp just has some really beautiful templates. It’s really simple to use. You can sign up for free for the first 2,000 subscribers. So you can sign up for free and have a play around with it and it’s really good. And also, if you get to the 2,000 and you just go, “MailChimp’s not really for me”.
It’s really easy to then bring them over to Convert Kit at a later date. So, MailChimp, definitely worth checking out – pelt.co/mailchimp. I do believe they have some automation features as well, if you’re willing to pay a higher price point.
Third on the list is AWeber which has been around basically since the internet was in diapers. I think it’s been around since the 1990’s. And to give you an idea, I was born in ’88. So, in the 1990’s, I was like 10 years old – less than 10 years old. I think I finished the ’90s, I was like 12. So, AWeber has been around for an extremely long time.
AWeber is absolutely great if you’re just getting started in email marketing. If you don’t know a lot about email marketing, you don’t need any of the automations, then AWeber can be a great tool for you. It’s just really simple. They’ve got a whole bunch of different templates that you can use to put forms on your website.
They’ve got follow-up sequences, you can send out broadcasts. You can also send out blog broadcasts. So, let’s say, I update my website everyday, every week, I can send out a blog broadcast which just shows people, here’s the 7 new posts that I did this week.
So, AWeber’s great. You can start the first month for free. And then $19 a month up to 500 subscribers. And then the pricing goes up from there. AWeber, definitely really awesome, especially if you’re starting out, I’d consider going with AWeber. If you’re not willing to commit to the $29 a month for Covert Kit at the lowest end, then AWeber is first month free and then $19 after that. You can get AWeber through my affiliate link. Just go to pelt.co/aweber.
The fourth one that I recommend is called “Emma”, which you can get at pelt.co/emma. Again, very comparable in terms of its services. However, they do also have some automation as well. They say “easiest interface in the business”, but I still think Convert Kit is easier. But you can go through and you can build in automations in there. You can add in forms. You can do autoresponder series. You can do broadcast. It does everything that everyone else does.
The fifth one is Campaign Monitor, which you can check out at pelt.co/cm. Campaign Monitor, nothing that really makes this one stand out above the rest. They’ve got some good templates in there. They’ve got a good email editor, which you can see playing in the background here. It looks great on your iPhone, obviously, but pricing’s the same. Features are basically the same. It’s a good tool. If you’re not happy with any of the other four, then Campaign Monitor is going to be good for you.
So, best email marketing services for blasts and autoresponders went to Convert Kit. Followed by MailChimp, followed closely by AWeber and then we had Emma and Campaign Monitor to follow it up.
Now, I am going to recommend LeadPages. No matter what service you use, LeadPages can be extremely useful in getting more email subscribers through your site. My affiliate link for LeadPages is pelt.co/lp. Just really quickly, LeadPages, you can go through and watch the video and understand what they do. But you can just create beautiful landing pages. And also, you can do things. This is my site and I’ve got this box down the bottom.
If someone wants to subscribe, they go ahead and click it and you got this little pop-up form where they can go ahead and they can subscribe. They’re called LaedBoxes, they convert really well. You can create pages like this one where people can click it. Again, you get that pop-up. That’s called a SqueezePage. They also have heaps of templates for sales pages and things like that.
So, no matter what email marketing service you’re using, I definitely recommend checking out LeadPages at pelt.co/lp. I think the cheapest one is like $39 a month but it gets cheaper if you upfront for a year. It’s for more advanced people, but definitely worth a look. And all of the ones that I’ve mentioned will integrate with LeadPages.
So, now, let’s look into the best email marketing services for e-commerce and for hyper targeting. So, let’s say someone comes to your website and they’re looking at the blue jeans or they’re looking at specific type of shoe. And you then want to email them and say, “You love shoes, so do we. Here’s some awesome shoes.” Or let’s say they come to your website, they add a couple of things to their cart and then they disappear. Where’d you go? I don’t know, you left that cart fully packed and you didn’t but it.
How can we get that person to re-buy and send out, “Hey, here’s your cart. Do you want to go ahead and follow-up and but it?”
There’s a whole bunch of different services out there. I will say that I haven’t used most of these services. I have tried some. I don’t run any e-commerce sites, so in terms of hyper targeting, I don’t need to do a lot of that.
So, the number 1 service that I recommend if you’re running an e-commerce site is a product called “Targeting Mantra”, which you can check out at pelt.co/mantra. You can do massive segmentation with this. You can segment people based on their gender, their location, what they last viewed, whether they’re a deal hunter or what they’re like or their last order value. You can segment by basically anything. You can hyper personalize the emails for every customer.
So, let’s say someone looks at a gold ring, you can go ahead and send them emails about the gold ring. Or if they look at Sony PS4, then you can send them emails about that or you could send them games that could go with their PS4. So you can do the hyper targeting that you really want to do if you have an e-commerce site. Customize recommendations and notifications for mobile apps. They’ve got a whole bunch of different things that you can do. Very powerful. Go ahead and check out Targeting Mantra.
Second on the list is Ontraport, which you can check out at pelt.co/ontraport. I was an Ontraport user in the past. I found that it was a bit too advanced for my needs. But Ontraport is really cool, you can do automations like we talked about. If someone fills out their cart and they don’t end up checking out, then you can send them reminders that they can check out. You can also customize emails based on whether they visit a certain page or let’s say they visit a page and it’s a special offer, if you’ve got their details, you can text them before that special offer ends.
Letting them know, “Hey, you checked this out. Special offer ends in an hour. If you want to go ahead and buy, here’s the link.” So, you can text them. You can email them. Overall, it’s a really, really good service and it’s quite easy to use as well. Their user interface, while not as beautiful and easy to use as Convert Kit, is fairly easy to use. Especially when we compare it to number three, which is Infusionsoft. Which you can get at pelt.co/soft.
Now, Infusionsoft is powerful. It is a big one in the industry. A lot of people are using Infusionsoft. It does so many different things. Everything we talked about in terms of marketing automation, it also works as a check out form so you can sell your products through Infusionsoft. You can do digital delivery through there. You can also affiliates for your products, so if people are sending traffic your way, you can give them a commission based on the sale of your product.
So, basically, Infusionsoft can do so many different things. There’s a lot of businesses out there using Inufusionsoft. There is a steep learning curve to Infusionsoft. So, if you’re not super tech-savvy and you don’t want to pay for support and someone to get you up and running, then Infusionsoft may be out of your price range, but definitely very powerful and definitely one to look at.
The fourth one on the list is called “Ramarkety”, which you can check out at pelt.co/remarkety. E-commerce email marketing – simplified. You can try it for 30 days and you check it out. Again, all the automation features that you would expect and that you would want if you had an e-commerce site. So they look at a certain product, you can send them details about that product. They fill out a cart and then you can send them reminders about it. Targeted newsletters, personalized coupon code, abandoned cart recovery and product recommendations and a whole bunch more.
